Don and Shakeel

Don MacPherson is CEO, Polymath-in-training, and host of 12 Geniuses - a podcast centered on trends and technologies changing the way we live and work.

A five-time entrepreneur, Don has spent 25 years studying the employee experience, the attributes of great leadership, and how healthy organizational cultures are created and sustained.

Don has been a Big Brother mentor for more than 20 years.

Shakeel Nelson is a 26-year-old Minnesota native, who graduated from Washburn High School, and is employed at North Memorial Hospital. At age 25, he started a non-profit called the Inner City Ducks — an organization changing the lives of young athletes in the Camden neighborhood of North Minneapolis. What began with 13 kids has now grown to over 100 kids, nurturing and coaching through sports, as well as teaching them life skills.

Shakeel is dedicated to helping young people in his community reach their potential.

Don and Shakeel’s Big Brothers Big Sisters connection started in May of 2003 with much spinning on a tire swing at a local park. Don and Shakeel’s relationship continues to grow over the years. Today, Don’s company is a proud sponsor of the Inner City Ducks.
